In the last 7 years Steve Powers has created a new way of painting, a hybrid of text and image that functions as a screen shot of his mind. The machinations of social interactions, the struggle to understand ourselves, dumb jokes, and the futility of changing a world that is perfectly happy with destroying itself are all recurring themes in Powers' work. For his debut show in Belgium, Powers is pulling together the best work of the last 7 years, and putting forth a dozen new paintings to effectively map out the area he has claimed for himself in his paintings.
